Michael Ball Returns to The Stage
Some long running musicals boast well known pop stars and musicians from the charts when new cast members are added to the list, which is why we have the likes of Matt Willis (Busted) in Wicked and Duncan James formerly in Legally Blonde the Musical. But this is not just restricted to shows that have already found a large audience, they can also apply to recent and upcoming musicals like 2012’s Sweeney Todd at the Adelphi Theatre, which not only boasts the well known actress Imelda Staunton but the singer Michael Ball in a lead role as well.
Michael Ball is known to audiences around the country for the various London theatre shows that he has appeared in, but he is also known for releasing numerous albums into the charts, as well as singles like Love Changes Everything. The fact that well known singers can also make for great West End stars is proven by his long line of credits from the 1980s to the modern day with the likes of Hairspray at the Shaftesbury Theatre in 2007 and Les Misérables at the Barbican Theatre (as part of the original cast) in 1985 among his many claims to fame.
Sweeney Todd arrives in the West End following its run at the Chichester Festival Theatre and it means that London theatre audiences (and fans of music hoping to witness the performance of Michael Ball) a chance to witness the story of the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, whose method of revenge on those that wronged him is both gruesome and memorable.
So if you wish to witness a well known name from the world of music then picking up box office tickets to see a fabulous West End musical can lead to some great memories, whether it is Michael Ball in Sweeney Todd or Matt Willis in Wicked.
